SEOUL, Korea (Sep 2, 2025) – Korea Taekwondo Association (KTA) President Jinbang Yang visited the World Taekwondo (WT) headquarters today and presented a USD 10,000 donation in support of the World Taekwondo Cares Program. The contribution was formally handed to WT President Dr. Chungwon Choue, with WT Secretary General Jeongkang Seo and KTA Secretary General Moonyong Chung also in attendance.
“Taekwondo has the power to change lives,” said WT President Dr. Choue. “We are deeply grateful to President Yang and the Korea Taekwondo Association for this generous contribution, which will help us extend opportunities to those who need them most.”
KTA President Yang highlighted, “Through this donation, we reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that Taekwondo is not just a sport, but a source of hope, resilience, and unity for communities around the world.”
This meaningful donation will further strengthen the reach of the World Taekwondo Cares Program, an initiative dedicated to harnessing Taekwondo as a tool for empowerment, hope, and peace—particularly for those most in need across the globe.
The World Taekwondo Cares Program was established with the vision of “Taekwondo for All and World Peace through Taekwondo.” It is built on the belief that Taekwondo is more than a sport—it is a universal tool that can empower people, foster resilience, and inspire hope, especially among those facing difficult circumstances.
The program’s mission is to bring Taekwondo to the people who need it most, particularly in developing countries and disadvantaged communities. Through this initiative, World Taekwondo works to ensure that everyone, regardless of background, has the opportunity to experience the physical, mental, and social benefits of the sport.
In practice, the Cares Program delivers Taekwondo equipment and educational materials, and dispatches qualified coaches who not only teach techniques but also instill the values and spirit of Taekwondo. These activities provide underprivileged children, youth, and communities with opportunities to learn, grow, and find inspiration through sport.
By opening doors to participation and spreading the values of inclusiveness, respect, indomitable spirit, perseverance, and self-control, the World Taekwondo Cares Program aims to transform lives and contribute to peace and unity on a global scale.
