The World Taekwondo (hereinafter referred to as “WT”) is committed to protect your privacy and to protect all personal information that we collect and process in relation with your use of certain functionality in the WT official website https://www.worldtaekwondo.org (hereinafter referred to as “Website”). Please read this Privacy Policy to find more details about how we use your information submitted to the website. WT website may contain hyperlinks and banners to websites owned and operated by third parties. These third parties’ websites have their own privacy notice and WT does not accept any responsibility or liability for the practices of such third parties’ websites. The present Privacy Policy (GDPR), as updated by WT on the needs, defines the conditions in which you authorize WT to collect and process your personal information.

In general, you can visit the Website without providing personal data. However, data is requested when you wish to take part in certain activities available on the Website such as receiving WT Newsletter. To subscribe to certain services, you may be invited to provide the following information:

Furthermore, in case you visit GMS site, you may be invited or required to provide certain information for the subscription to certain cervices. Please follow the privacy policy of GMS site for such case. WT will inform you of any additional information needed to provide the services which you have requested.

3. Purpose of the collection and processing of personal data

In GMS site, WT collects and process your personal data solely for the following purposes:
1) Participation in the challenges and competitions organized by WT on the Site
2) Registration for the use of the Site
3) Maintenance and development of the Site
4) Compilation of statistics in order to improve the quality of the services offered to users.
Your personal details will be not be given or shared with third parties for marketing purposes.
Your personal details may be only disclosed for purposes and in situations specifically required by law.

4. Right of access and Consent

At all time, you may request access to your personal data and to request a correction of any erroneous or incomplete data about you by contacting WT at the following address: pr@worldtaekwondo.org. It is your responsibility to verify that your personal data are accurate and updated. In case, you notice that some of your personal data are inaccurate or obsolete, it is your responsibility to notify WT. The same goes if you wish to withdraw your consent. It is your responsibility to contact WT.

5. Hosting and transfer of your personal data

WT headquarters is based in South Korea and all personal data you submit to WT will be hosted in that State, outside of European Union. Therefore, by submitting your personal data, you acknowledge and agree accept that your personal data will be transmitted to and hosted in South Korea.

As a matter of principle, WT will never transmit your personal data to third parties without your prior consent. However, WT’s activities are international and by submitting your personal data, you acknowledge and agree accept that WT may transmit your personal data to other entities of WT, or its subcontractors, including outside European Union, if WT deems it necessary for the purposes mentioned in section 2 above. We will ensure that the receiving entity has agreed to keep your data confidential and secure, outside of your country of residence. If the level of privacy protection in a country does not comply with internationally recognized standards, we will ensure that data transfers to databases in that country are equally protected and that a transfer of data to third parties in such countries does not occur. WT reserves the right to release your personal data if WT is required under law to do so, or in the good-faith believes that such release is necessary to comply with applicable legislation.

6. Data security

WT is committed to ensure the best possible level of security of your personal data, and will take adequate technical and organizational measures to protect your data against the risks of damage, destruction, loss or unauthorized access.

All personal information provided by you will be held strictly confidential.

7. Date retention

WT will retain your personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes set forth under Section 2 above. Please note that data may be kept for a longer period of time exclusively for mere statistical purposes and WT shall use anonymous data wherever possible.

WT periodically, but at least every ( ) years, checks that no data is stored for longer than needed.

8. Spamming

WT will not engage in spamming and will not authorize the use of your personal data for commercial or advertising purposes by third parties, except with your express consent. Any activities that WT believes to be important for you, WT will always give you the choice of opting out of such service.

9. Your Rights

Your principal rights under the data protection law(GDPR) are as follows:
Right to access: you have the right to confirmation as to whether or not WT processes your personal data and, where WT does, access to the personal data, together with certain additional information. That additional information include details of the purposes of the processing, the categories of personal data concerned and the recipients of the personal data. Providing the rights and freedoms of others are not affected, WT will supply to you a copy of your personal data.

Right to rectification: you have the right to have any inaccurate personal data about you rectified and, taking into account the purposes of the processing, to have any incomplete personal data about you completed.

Right to erasure: in some circumstances you have the right to have your personal data erased. Those circumstances are: (i) the personal data are no longer necessary in relation to the purposes for which they were collected or otherwise processed; (ii) you withdraw the consent on which the processing is based and there is no other legal ground for the processing; (iii) you object to the processing of your data and there are no overriding legitimate grounds for the processing; (iv) the personal data have been unlawfully processed; the personal data have to be erased for compliance with a legal obligation to which WT is subject; (v) the personal data have been collected in relation to the offer of information society services directly to a child.

Right to restrict processing: in some circumstances you have the right to restrict the processing of your personal data. Those circumstances are: (i) you contest the accuracy of the personal data; (ii) processing is unlawful but you oppose erasure; (iii) WT no longer needs the personal data for the purposes of our processing, but you require personal data for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims; or (iv) you have objected to processing, pending the verification of that objection. Where processing has been restricted on this basis, WT may continue to store your personal data. However, WT will only otherwise process it: with your consent; for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims; for the protection of the rights of another natural or legal person; or for reasons of important public interest.

Right to object to processing: you have the right to object to WT’s processing of your personal data on grounds relating to your particular situation, but only to the extent that the legal basis for the processing is that the processing is necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by WT or by a third party. If you make such an objection, WT will cease to process the personal data unless WT can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing which override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing is for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims. You have the right to object to WT’s processing of your personal data for direct marketing purposes (including profiling for direct marketing purposes). If you make such an objection, WT will cease to process your personal data for this purpose. You’ll be able to opt-out from emails WT sends you by clicking on the unsubscribe link at the bottom of those emails. You have the right to object to our processing of your personal data for scientific or historical research purposes or statistical purposes on grounds relating to your particular situation, unless the processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out for reasons of public interest.

Right to data portability: to the extent that the legal basis for WT’s processing of your personal data is: (i) consent; or (ii) that the processing is necessary for the performance of a contract to which you are party or in order to take steps at your request prior to entering into a contract, and such processing is carried out by automated means, you have the right to receive your personal data from WT in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format. However, this right does not apply where it would adversely affect the rights and freedoms of others.

Right to withdraw consent: to the extent that the legal basis for WT’s processing of your personal data is consent, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawal will not affect the lawfulness of processing before the withdrawal.

Automated individual decision making: WT does not carry out this kind of decision making. However, for your information, you have the right not to be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing, including profiling, which produces legal effects concerning you unless this is necessary for our contract, is authorised under applicable law or is based on your explicit consent.

WT reserves the right to change any of the terms and conditions contained in the present Privacy Policy, at any time and in its sole discretion. When WT makes changes, WT will post the last updated version on the Website to be effective immediately. Your continued use of the Website following the posting of changes will constitute your acceptance of such changes. WT encourages you to review the Privacy Policy whenever you visit the Website to be informed of any change.
