Candidate Application for World Taekwondo Election 2025
On behalf of World Taekwondo and pursuant to our mandate under Article 5.8.9 of the WT Statutes, the Ad-Hoc Election Committee is pleased to announce, in accordance with Article 5.8 of the WT Statutes (the “Statutes”), on
23 October 2025, the General Assembly (“GA”) of World Taekwondo (“WT”) will convene in
Wuxi, China, to hold WT’s quadrennial elections.

A.Positions
The following officials shall be elected:
- One (1) President
- Three (3) Vice Presidents
- Fourteen (14) Council Members
- One (1) Auditor
Note:
- Three (3) Vice Presidents will be directly elected by the GA.
- The female Council Member receiving the highest number of votes shall be elevated to Vice President. Therefore, the final number of Vice Presidents seated will be four (4) and the final number of Council Members seated will be thirteen (13).
- B.Age Limitation
Candidates must be under Seventy (70) years old on the election date. However, individuals who were incumbent as WT officials as of the 2021 election are eligible if they are under Eighty (80) years old on the day of election.
- Candidates to become a WT official must be born on or after October 24, 1955.
- However, candidates who were incumbent as WT official as of the 2021 elections seeking re-election must be born on or after October 24, 1945.
- C.Criteria
A candidate to become an Elected Official must be nominated by a Level I MNA of which the candidate holds nationality or residence. Current WT Officials are eligible for re-election to their current position or to any other position within the Council without this MNA nomination.
- D.Geographic and Gender Distribution
To ensure regional and gender diversity:
Vice Presidents:
- The three (3) directly elected Vice Presidents must each represent a different continent.
- For the elevated female Vice President, continental representation is not required.
Council Members:
- Among the fourteen (14) Council Members, at least one (1) male and one (1) female must be elected from each of the five (5) continents, Africa, Asia, Europe, Oceania, and Pan America.
- When the Council Members are composed on thirteen (13) members due an elevation, the elevated female Vice President shall be counted toward fulfilling the requirement that at least one (1) male and one (1) female must be elected from each of the five (5) continents, Africa, Asia, Europe, Oceania, and Pan America.
- E.Hybrid / Virtual Meeting
In alignment with WT’s Statutes and to ensure inclusive participation, virtual (online) voting will be available for this year’s elections.

- All requested materials must be uploaded within the form in image or PDF format except for the Candidature Campaign Spending Report Form, which must be submitted to election@worldtaekwondo.org according to deadlines in the Election Bylaws (by 16 October).
