Tubtimdang and Kosmycheva take golds on day two of Muju Taekwondowon 2025 World Taekwondo Grand Prix Challenge

MUJU, Korea (Aug. 29, 2025) - Thailand’s Banlung Tubtimdang impressed to earn gold in the Men’s -68kg on day two of the Muju Taekwondowon 2025 World Taekwondo Grand Prix Challenge, and Individual Neutral Athlete (AIN) Anastasiia Kosmycheva triumphed in the Women’s +67kg.

Tubtimdang, a World Taekwondo Championships silver medallist at Baku 2023 and gold medallist at the recent Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games, produced a commanding performance in the final against Korea’s Woo-hyeok Jung.

Jung won gold at the previous World Taekwondo Grand Prix Challenge in Charlotte, USA in June, but was denied back-to-back victories as Tubtimdang won the two rounds 13-1 and 21-7 in an entertaining final.

That completed a successful day for the 19-year-old, who did not lose a round throughout the competition in Muju Taekwondowon.

Bronze in the Men’s -68kg went to Damir Shulenov of Kazakhstan, matching his result at the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games. Shulenov overcame Spain’s Adrian Salanova Liste to seal a place on the podium.

The Women’s +67kg was closely fought, but Kosmycheva edged both rounds 6-5 against Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games gold medallist Dabin Song of Korea, leaving the host nation to settle for two silvers on day two.

In the match for bronze, the Tokyo 2020 Olympic silver medallist Lauren Williams of Great Britain triumphed against Tania Castineira Etcheverria of Spain, winning the two rounds 8-2 and 8-6.

Medallists at the Muju Taekwondowon 2025 World Taekwondo Grand Prix Challenge earn invitations to the 2026 World Taekwondo Grand Prix Series 2 in Paris.

Competition continues tomorrow with the Men’s -58kg and Women’s -67kg, and will run until Sunday (August 31).
